Happy New Year!

Here's wishing everyone a very Happy and blessed New Year!  We had a nice little break now it's time to go back to work and start preparing for a busy spring!

 

Class Dues

Class fees are due tonight.  Please see Brenda and make all checks payable to “Olivia Smathers.”

 

No Class January 15th

Due to the holiday, there will be no class next Monday night.

 

Big Shanty Festival/Trade Days

This festival is not only performance dates for the group but also a fund-raiser.  Please go ahead and mark your calendars for April 20th, 21st and 22nd.  Friday, the 20th will be set-up day and Saturday and Sunday will be two full days of running a food booth and 2 performances each day for our dancers.  Please make any necessary arrangements to be available for working in the booth and for performing.

 

 

 

Meeting

We are planning another meeting soon.  If you have issues or questions that you would like to be addressed, please see Lesia and she will compile a list and we will cover those during the meeting.  As soon as we have a date and time, we will announce it.

 

Upcoming Performances

March 17th – St. Patrick's Day Parade, Downtown Atlanta.  The parade starts at noon, we will give you all the necessary details as soon as we receive more info.  Uniforms for this performance are green shirts and white jeans for all performers.

 

April 20th, 21st & 22nd – Big Shanty, Kennesaw

 

Saturday, May 11th, 6:30 p.m.

Kennesaw Opry, uniforms TBA

October 9, 2006

 

Overview

Wow!  The last month has been like a whirl wind.  Thanks to all who helped operate our food booth down at Jim Miller Park.  We appreciate all the time and hard work you volunteered during the Blue Ribbon Affair and the North Georgia State Fair.

 

Also, thanks to our traveling team, The Generals for a job well done in all the performances they have attended including, Pioneer Days, Alpharetta Heritage Festival,  A Blue Ribbon Affair, North Georgia Sate Fair and the Cobb Wellness Walk.  We appreciate your dedication and commitment to the Little General's organization.

 

Upcoming Performances

Stompin' Ground, Maggie Valley

October 21st

 

Jonquil Festival, Smyrna

October 29th – arrive 1:00 p.m.

Dance at 1:30 and 4:15 p.m.

 

Festival of Trees, Atlanta

December 2nd

Dance at 6:00 p.m.

 

Uniforms will be announced at a later date for the Jonquil Festival and the Festival of Trees.

 

Maggie Valley

We are planning to take the bus to Maggie Valley.  We will meet at the center at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning and would like to leave by 8:15 a.m.  Rooms are reserved at the Comfort Inn and you will be responsible for payment of your own room upon check-in.  There will not be a charge for anyone riding the bus.  If you have any questions, feel free to speak with Mrs. Olivia.

 

Uniforms are as follows:

Boys: White shirt w/fringe, bolo tie, black pants, red socks, red hankie

 

Girls: Multi-vest, black tank, black skirt, black bloomers, red hankie

 

Please make sure to bring your hankies!!!

A Message from Your Director

I just wanted to take a moment to say welcome to our new members and welcome back to our return members.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and we are looking forward to a great year ahead.  We have so much to be thankful for. Our performing team has done a great job in keeping our booked dates and in representing the city.  We are hoping for great results with our fund raising booth at the Blue Ribbon and the North Georgia State Fair and we are looking forward to another fun year at the Stompin' Ground in  Maggie Valley, North Carolina.  Here's to another year and keeping on track with the Little General Cloggers!

 

 Class Times and Monthly Dues

Monday night class times are as follows:

5:00 til 5:30 – Tiny Tots

5:45 til 6:15 – Ice Breakers

6:30 til 7:15 – Little Generals

7:30 til 9:00 - Generals

 

Please note that class times are subject to change and we will do our best to give you plenty of advanced notice.

 

The registration fee for the Little Generals is $25 per dancer, paid once per year.  Class dues are $45 per month, due on the first Monday of each month.

 

Quilt Donated

We have had a beautiful quilt donated that we will be selling raffle tickets on.  Look for more information on that coming soon!

 

 

 

Fund Raising Booth

A group will be meeting at Mrs. Olivia's tomorrow night, 9/12 at 6:00 p.m. to load up and go over to Jim Miller Park to set up for our booth for the Blue Ribbon and North Georgia State Fair.  The dates the booth will be open are Saturday, 9/16 from 10:00 p.m. til 6:00 p.m. And Sunday 9/17, Noon til 5:00 p.m.  The Fair will begin the following Thursday, 9/21 and run through Sunday, 10/1.  Please see brochure for fair schedule and hours.

 

The following is a list of supplies that we still need for our booth: 

Squeeze bottles of butter, lemonade mix, sugar, chopped onions, creamer and sugar for coffee, cleaning supplies

 

If you are interested in helping out in any of these areas, please see Lesia Walker tonight before you leave practice.

Maggie Valley

If you plan to go to the Stompin' Ground this year, you will need to call The Comfort Inn at 1-828-926-9106 to make your reservation for Saturday, 10/21.  Rooms are $129 per night plus tax and you will need to ask for the Little General Clogger's room block.

On Friday, June 16, 2006, Kennesaw's very own Little General Cloggers performed on the Grand Ole' Opry, in Nashville, Tennessee for their 32nd Consecutive Year.

February 27, 2006

 

Thank You

Thank you to all who made themselves available to do the Atlantic Station Parade on Saturday.  Unfortunately due to the rain, we had to cancel.

 

Parent’s Meeting

We will be having a meeting for all parents next Tuesday, March 7th at 6:30 p.m.  We will be going over information for Trade Days and Nashville and any other issues you might have on your mind.  The meeting will be held at the Community Center in the craft lab.

 

Expense Report

Our storage bill was paid this month and also a check for a little over $300 was written to pay for our website.  For more information, please see Mrs. Olivia.

 

Spring Break

Cobb and Paulding County schools spring break is 4/1 – 4/9.  If you are going to be out of town this week, please let Lesia know as soon as possible.  We have been approached about a performance on 4/1 and we need to make sure we have enough performers in town before we commit.

 

Grand Ole Opry

The date for this performance is Friday, June 16th.  Tickets will go on sale next week.  There will be more information to come on booking rooms and purchasing tickets.

 

Ms. Kennesaw Pageant

Thank You

Thanks to all who came to perform at Reflections Assisted Living Home last Thursday, we had a good turn out and great performances!

Class February 20th

Don’t forget we will not be having practice next Monday night due to the holiday. Practice for all youth teams will be held Tuesday at their regular times and the adult classes will be on Thursday, the 23rd at regular times.

Performance this Sunday

Don’t forget our performance this week! You will need to arrive at Ross Memorial at 2:30 p.m. We dance at 3:00. Please let Lesia know tonight if you will be able to attend or not.

Uniforms are as follows:

Tiny Tots: Red turtleneck, black jeans, red socks, red hankie

All Boys: Red shirt w/fringe, black pants, red belt, red socks, red hankie

All Girls: Red vest, black tank, black skirt, red bloomers, white knee socks for the Little Generals only, black shoes

Tiny Tots Parents

Please see Lesia tonight about red, blue, green shirts and white pants. The red and blue shirts have been ordered, the cost is $23 and those need to be paid for ASAP. Make checks payable to “Little General Cloggers.”

Our Condolences

We learned of the sad news of the passing of Mayor Church’s wife this past weekend. Please keep these two families in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.
